Access & Inclusion Officer (Justice) – Belfast NI

Hours: 23 hours per week
Salary: £24,000 pro-rata (£15,771)

Fixed Term Contract up to January 2020 (subject to contract terms)

The British Deaf Association (NI) in conjunction with Queens University Belfast have secured funding from Disability Research on Independent Living & Learning to carry out research in the Justice Sector with the aim of enhancing Deaf People’s Communication Access to Justice in Northern Ireland.

The British Deaf Association (NI) seeks to recruit an Access and Inclusion Officer (Justice) to work collaboratively with the partners and researchers to ensure the project’s success.  The person will have an understanding of the barriers facing Deaf people and experience of researching and delivering training.  The person will be enthusiastic, have empathy for Deaf people and ideally have some level of Sign Language.

The role will involve the identification and recruitment of Deaf community members for inclusion in an advisory group, the running of advisory groups as prescribed by partners, designing and delivery of training/information sessions and liaising with representatives from the various justice sectors.
