Contract: Part Time, 12 hrs + overtime and holiday cover (open to negotiation)
Fees: £10.00 per hour, plus mileage and expenses

NRASS are a Disability Confident Employer who promote the everyday welfare and wellbeing of people with a sensory loss condition. The Charity provides Advocacy and Welfare Rights advice thereby promoting independence, respect, empowerment, equal access and anti-discriminatory practice.

Role & Responsibilities

This role is an exciting opportunity working for NRASS in the North East region. You would be working with sensory loss individuals via Drop in Surgeries within the Local Authority areas that NRASS currently service in the North East and providing home visits when necessary. A sound knowledge of the Welfare System is essential, along with computer literacy skills and the ability to maintain records in a logical and methodical system on a daily basis.

You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills (BSL Level 2 is desirable, although not essential) together with an understanding of sensory loss and the issues affecting deaf, deaf/blind and hard of hearing service users. Alternatively, Access to Work, maybe an option to provide Communication Support until such a time that the applicant attains the necessary standard of sign language. You will also have experience of working with a wide range of people from professional backgrounds and volunteers.

Applicants must be motivated and have the self drive/discipline to promote the services of the charity, via presentations and delivering various workshops, in a positive manner and actively organise and participate in fund-raising activities. NRASS is an agile working organisation.

This post is also subject to DBS clearance. All successful candidates must satisfactorily clear a criminal records and ISA Vulnerable Adults Barred List check by CRB.
