Text transcript of BSL video:
Hello, my name is Toni and I’m from the British Deaf Association (BDA) Scotland. I’m here from the Deaf Roots and Pride Project in Scotland and want to tell you about some of the vacancies we’ve got coming up. These are for Mentors.
So what are Mentors? They’re Deaf adults who will take children and young people who are isolated under their wing, take them out and help boost their confidence. Later, there could be different activities like going to the cinema, bowling, rock climbing, games and so on. The aim is to develop the youngster’s Deaf identity.
If you’re interested, why not apply? You can find all the details and various documents on our website including the job description and application form.
The salary is £12 per hour and the number of hours will vary each week. The work is within the Central Belt – that’s across Glasgow, Falkirk, Edinburgh and Ayrshire.
The DEADLINE is 4pm, Thursday 26th January 2017.
Interviews will be held on 7th and 8th February in Glasgow. There will then be a group interview which will take place on 15th February.
Successful candidates will be given training in Child Protection and Vulnerable Adults and training in Mentoring.
