BSL Level 6 Communication Support Worker – Suffolk
£19,430 – £24,964 pro rata
You will be based at Bungay High School with occasional travel to the SCC Riverside building.
The Children and Young People’s Sensory and Communication Service provides countywide services to children and young people with a sensory impairment or communication need.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the service to recruit a Communication Support Worker who holds the Level 6 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) to support an able deaf learner who is a full BSL user in a mainstream secondary school in the north of the county.
This is a 39 week per year, term time only post. Although this role is mainly based in one setting there must be a willingness to undertake some travel as required according to the learners needs. You will co-work with a BSL / English interpreter colleague and receive mentoring and some training.
There will be an opportunity to gain the qualification in BSL / English interpreting. You must have a flexible approach and work across the service if this is required any time.
For an informal discussion please contact Sheila Hackett, Education Consultant for Hearing Impaired Children and Young People on 07894 599110.
