Tany’s Dell Primary School is a member of the Templefields Multi-Academy Trust and hosts the Hearing Impaired Resource Base on behalf of Essex County Council. We are looking for an enthusiastic Teacher of the Deaf to join our lovely team, based in the conservation area of Mark Hall in Harlow.

We are committed to meeting the needs of all our pupils in the HIRB and are looking for a passionate and committed qualified Teacher of the Deaf (or someone who is in the process of obtaining the mandatory additional qualification in teaching children with a hearing impairment) to join our fully inclusive school. You must have Qualified Teacher Status as well as BSL Level 1 as a minimum, although a BSL Level 2 qualification is desirable.

You will be able to demonstrate a passion for learning and a commitment to achieving high outcomes for hearing impaired children in conjunction with mainstream colleagues. You should have recent experience of working in a primary school, and be committed to the effective inclusion, as well as independence of children with a hearing impairment.

A willingness to learn new skills and a positive ‘can do’ attitude is vital. You will need to have a flexible approach to meeting individual children’s needs and be willing to adopt alternative strategies to ensure positive outcomes for all our children.

Our pupils mainly use an oral/aural approach to communication and follow an integration programme as appropriate to their individual needs.

We can offer you:

  • A well-resourced HI base and school
  • Continuous Professional Development
  • Supportive and experienced colleagues
  • Eager children, who thrive on being challenged

Visits to the school are most welcome – please phone to arrange an appointment. If you wish to discuss the post further please contact the Headteacher, Mrs Bernadette Miele.
