Are you an experienced BSL Interpreter, looking for a new challenge?

As part of the redesign of Sensory Services, we are setting up a new in-house service to provide communication support to people in Kent who are d/Deaf and deafblind. We provide this service to Kent County Council (KCC) and other public sector agencies within our partnership (such as Kent Police, Fire & Rescue and Health colleagues).

We are looking for a Senior BSL Interpreter with a wealth of experience working in a variety of settings. You will take a lead responsibility in developing the in-house service, mentoring and supervising BSL interpreters and undertaking sometimes complex assignments.

You will need to have great interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing an excellent service to the Deaf community in Kent.

In this post you will need to be highly organised and take an active part in promoting the service within KCC and other public sector organisations.

We are offering you the opportunity of being a key player in this exciting new development and we will provide continued professional development, regular supervision, peer support, and you will be part of a wider Sensory Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
