Specialist Teacher for Hearing Impaired Children – Suffolk

Hours: 32.5 per week
You will join the CYP Sensory and Communication Service to provide education and social care services to children and young people with sensory impairment or communication needs across Suffolk.
The service consists of a multi-disciplinary team that includes education consultants, teachers, social workers and a variety of support staff who provide specialist support for children and young people aged 0 – 25 with hearing, visual or multi-sensory impairments as well as those with speech and language difficulties.
This is a varied role to give support and advice as well as monitoring the effectiveness of the provision made by the school whilst providing specialist teaching.
You will develop fully inclusive approaches and manage some staff, including communication support staff. You will also monitor individual Deaf learner progress in-line with school based systems, conduct relevant language assessments and you could take a lead role in training.
This is a new role hosted by a school with a strong inclusion philosophy.
