Young deaf learners in Post 16 follow programmes of their choice off campus at a range of local providers, sharing the opportunities and experiences enjoyed by all young people. Transition Support Communicators ensure the communication needs of all learners are met to enhance and exploit opportunities for learners of all abilities to achieve their potential.
Applicants should already hold an appropriate underpinning Level 3 Communication Support for Deaf Learners qualification and L3 British Sign Language though opportunities for training are available and supported. The number and pattern of working hours associated with the role are flexible and could cover part-time if appropriate (minimum of 16 hours, maximum of 32 hours subject to agreement).
All Transition Support Communicators enjoy 14 weeks paid holiday leave entitlement and, subject to auto enrolment criteria, access to a work place pension scheme.
This role is a Regulated Activity under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act. The person appointed will be expected to fully participate in the school’s proactive approach to safeguarding vulnerable groups and complete an application for an enhanced criminal record disclosure.
