Austria, 1938. Free-spirited nun Maria becomes the governess to the widowed Captain von Trapp’s seven children. She brings music and laughter back to his unfeeling household, but the future holds more joy and jeopardy than she ever dreamed possible.
We’re so excited about The Sound of Music – it’s one of our favourite things! Produced at CFT for the very first time, its glorious score is a box of delights and includes Climb Ev’ry Mountain and Edelweiss to Do-Re-Mi and The Sound of Music itself. Gina Beck, whose performance as Nellie Forbush in 2021’s South Pacific was also acclaimed in London and on a UK tour, returns to play Maria. Design is by Robert Jones and the brand new production is directed by Adam Penford. BSL interpretation is by Marie Berrisford and Stagetext captions on Thursday 10 August 2.30pm.
Chichester Festival Theatre (CFT) is set in beautiful parkland and its epic auditorium wraps around the stage. One of our favourite things is to de-stress in a deckchair while enjoying a refreshing drink from a pop-up bar on the park. Bliss!
