What can I contribute?
You can submit anything Deaf Community-related: it could be deaf issues, access, research, events, profiles about people, opinion pieces about positive and negative experiences, obituaries… and many more.
You can contribute a written article, picture and / or a BSL video.
You cannot copy and paste third party articles without permission from the original author.
How do I contribute?
Fill out the online form: you will need to provide your name, email address and contribution. You cannot provide a false name. Your contribution will then be submitted to the BDN Editor for approval before publishing online. Your contribution may be proofread or edited before publishing online.
Note: your name will be on the BDN website when your contribution is published. If you want to be anonymous, please contact the BDN Editor.
Written articles can be a maximum of 500 words. You must provide a picture with your article. Warning: be careful of copyright – make sure you own the picture, or have permission to use it. Where possible, we request that a BSL summary / translation of the article be provided as well.
Videos can be a maximum two (2) minutes. We only accept YouTube and Vimeo links.
Pictures need to be jpeg, and should be in the highest resolution/size possible. (Ideal size is 300dpi, 2000 pixels width or height.)
You can include hyperlinks to other websites in your contribution.
If you want to provide a longer article, or become a regular contributor, contact the BDN Editor.
If you don’t want to make a contribution but you have a story idea, let the BDN Editor know.

If there are other people in your article, picture or video, you must have their permission to post it on BDN. This is especially important if there are children involved. If you include copyrighted material in your contribution, you must have permission from the owner to use it.
