Countdown to Sign Language Week

Countdown to SLW 2017

The British Deaf Association (BDA) are currently in the middle of final preparations for their annual Sign Language Week. This year the week runs from Monday March 13th to Sunday March 19th 2017.

Sign Language Week is celebrated each year in March to coincide with the anniversary of the recognition of Sign Language by the British Government in 2003.

This year it is being promoted as a week that will inspire and motivate deaf people to believe they can do anything they want to do.

The charity is inviting employed Deaf people from all sectors who use BSL to make a short video about their work which will be added to a new website.

They also want the young to contribute with a video about their own dreams.

The BDA say the aim is to promote a positive attitude among the young and deaf people in general and to encourage them to aspire to the career of their choice.

Using the tag “Dream Big”, the BDA is creating a “wall of fame” of Deaf people at work that will become a lasting resource for years to come.

The BDA has created an excellent new website where you can find all the details about how to join in with Sign Language Week 2017

You can also be part of Sign Language Week via Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag: #SignLanguageWeek
