Chief Executive Officer – British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust (BSLBT)
The British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust (BSLBT) commissions a wide range of scripted and unscripted television programmes made in British Sign Language (BSL). Our vision is to reach every BSL user with more BSL programmes that they love to watch.
We are a unique organisation set up to provide an alternative way for commercial broadcasters to meet their Ofcom-regulated requirements for providing sign language programming. This year 74 channels are subscribing.
We are now looking to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer who will help to take the organisation to the next stage of its development. They will lead a diverse and high performing team to shape and deliver BSLBT’s future strategy. The successful candidate will be passionate about driving forwards the success of BSLBT and reaching more people within the Deaf community. They will ideally be a BSL user themselves, and if not, they must be committed to learn. Candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to develop long lasting relationships across the key stakeholders such as the Deaf community, Ofcom and subscriber broadcasters and will bring a sound understanding of the British broadcasting landscape.
The appointed candidate will be a natural, dynamic leader with excellent communication skills and a highly collaborative style. They will be comfortable working closely with a Board to deliver the charity’s key strategic mission and objectives and will be committed to working constructively with both Deaf and hearing staff and Trustees.
Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to the BSLBT on this appointment.
