Highworth is a large school which offers delightful pupils and friendly staff. This post is ideal for candidates who wish to develop their career within a caring and stimulating environment.

Highworth Combined School and Nursery would like to appoint a Deaf Tutor to work in our Additionally Resourced Provision unit for 12 Deaf children alongside our highly experienced TOD and team of communicators.

We are a popular, oversubscribed primary school of 460 pupils, age range 4-11, with an Additionally Resourced Provision for Hearing Impaired children, located in High Wycombe. We require a Deaf Tutor to join our Additionally Resourced Provision, ARP, for Hearing Impairment.  The ARP currently supports 12 pupils who range from severe to profoundly deaf, some of whom have a range of additional language, social communication and other sensory needs.

Pupils range in their use of communication mode from the use of Spoken English with or without Signed Supported English to the sole use of British Sign Language. The deaf pupils are integrated into the mainstream classes with the support of Communicators who are qualified in BSL. A qualification in BSL level 3 would therefore be required.

Highworth Combined School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be requested for the successful candidate.
